It's pouring outside. Your dog is staring at you with those "let's go" eyes. But before you resign yourself to a soaked walk, know this: you can tire your dog out completely without ever leaving the house. Here are 10 indoor activities that engage your dog's brain and body.
Mental Enrichment Games
1. The Cup Game: Hide a treat under one of three cups and shuffle them. Let your dog find it. 2. Snuffle Mat: Sprinkle kibble into a snuffle mat and let your dog sniff it out — 15 minutes of nose work equals a 30-minute walk. 3. Frozen Kong: Stuff a Kong with peanut butter, banana, and kibble, then freeze it. It'll keep your dog busy for 30-45 minutes.
Physical Games for Small Spaces
4. Hallway Fetch: A long hallway is all you need. Use a soft toy to avoid breaking things. 5. Tug-of-War: A classic that builds your bond and burns energy.
